We are delighted to share that the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has been honored with the ‘Best Geospatial Enabler Award’ at the National Geospatial Awards 2025, organized by FOSSEE, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

The award was presented during a ceremony held on 17th July 2025 at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India and was received on behalf of OGC by Harsha Vardhan Madiraju.

National Geospatial Awards 2025

The awards were conferred by Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The FOSSEE (Free/Libre and Open Source Software for Education) project, under the National Mission on Education through ICT (Ministry of Education, Government of India), promotes the adoption of FLOSS tools in academia and research.

Now in its second edition, the National Geospatial Awards have expanded to recognize international agencies that contribute meaningfully to India’s national development and align with the National Geospatial Policy 2022 and Indian Space Policy 2023. These awards aim to encourage best practices such as open standards that support adoption and innovation within Indian ecosystem.

After thoughtful deliberation with organizing partners, the jury selected OGC for the ‘Best Geospatial Enabler Award’ in recognition of its sustained contributions.

Best Geospatial Enabler Award

We at OGC thank the Jury and the FOSSEE Team for this honor. This award is dedicated to the OGC Members and the broader community in India who are advancing open standards-based innovation, supporting national policies and missions, building open geospatial data infrastructures, and enabling impactful data exchanges as part of India’s digital public infrastructure.
