The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is seeking public comment on its Web Coverage Service 2.0 Interface Standard – Earth Observation Application Profile 1.1.

This OGC WCS Application Profile – Earth Observation Interface Standard (EO-WCS) defines data structures and operations that together allow retrieval of Earth Observation coverages offered by a WCS 2.0 server.

EO-WCS defines a profile of WCS 2.0 for use with Earth Observation data. An OGC Application Profile bundles requirements from several OGC standards that must be implemented for conformance with the application profile. The Application Profile also introduces additional requirements (such as Dataset Series) and constraints (for example, coverages offered are required to include EO metadata). Further information on the standard and requirements of the EO-WCS are available in the standard document or online at https://schpidi.github.io/eo-wcs/.

The candidate Web Coverage Service 2.0 Interface Standard – Earth Observation Application Profile 1.1 is available for public review and comment at https://portal.ogc.org/files/73692. Comments are due by 22 May 2017 and should be submitted to requests@lists.opengeospatial.org.

About the OGC

The OGC is an international consortium of more than 525 companies, government agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available geospatial standards. OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable' the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT. OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful with any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.
