Dr. Micah Brachman is a Community Manager at the Open Geospatial Consortium. In this role he supports the coordination, scheduling, agenda creation and onboarding of 40+ technical working groups. With more than 25 years of experience in geospatial technology, Dr. Brachman is uniquely qualified to help these groups solve critical geospatial interoperability problems in cutting-edge domains including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies, and Metaverse components and services.
Prior to becoming a staff member at OGC, Dr. Brachman worked closely with the Army Geospatial Center to support the development of the OGC GeoPackage standard. He also served as a subject matter expert with the Portrayal and Coordinate Reference System Domain Working Groups. Micah helped develop and launch a graduate-level Geospatial Intelligence program as a Lecturer in the Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland, and has published research articles on a broad range of topics including hazards and emergency management, public health, and geospatial technology. Micah has a PhD and MA in Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BS in Geography from the University of Minnesota.
