3D Summit 2014 Now Open for Registration

This summit is open to both members and non-members of OGC. You can register here.

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) 3D Information Management Domain Working Group (3DIM) is hosting its third 3D Summit as part of the OGC's June 2014 Technical Committee meeting in Geneva, Switzerland on 12 June 2014.  The primary topic for this year's 3D Summit is State of the Art in 3D, with particular focus on the following aspects.

1. Technologies: Topics and technologies which have not been exposed to the OGC community.

2. Applications: Things you cannot do in 2D.

3. Management: Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the built environment.

At this 3D Summit we will also award the second 3DIM Award for exceptional use of 3D standards.

Associated with the 3D Summit will be the 3D Geneva Geospatial Showcase (http://goo.gl/iLQ2nu), an interactive walk-through of Geneva demonstrating innovative use of various 3D data sets and applications in an urban space.

The past 3D Summits in Boston and Boulder were very well attended and provided excellent forums for discussion of the use of OGC and other 3D standards in the broad community.  Now being held for the first time in Europe, the event aims to show the State of the Art in Geospatial 3D through short presentations and discussions with industry-leading technologists.

The organizers of the 3D Summit invite potential presenters to submit short abstracts (less than 300 words) of their topics by 18 May 2104.  Presenters are requested to indicate whether they would prefer to make 20 minute presentations or 5 minute "lightning talks" and to which of the three aspects (mentioned above) the talk relates. Selection of abstracts for final presentation at the 3D Summit will be made by a committee of OGC staff, the 3DIM chairs, and the previous recipient of the 3DIM Award by 27 May 2014.

Please submit abstracts to 3dsummit [at] opengeospatial.org.

 Thank you,

Scott, Benjamin, and Carsten

4th International FIG 3D Cadastre Workshop

Sunday, 2014-11-09
Tuesday, 2014-11-11
The increasing complexity of infrastructures and densely built-up areas requires a proper registration of the legal
status (private and public), which can only be provided to a limited extent by the existing 2D cadastral registrations.
The registration of the legal status in complex 3D situations will be investigated under the header of 3D Cadastres.

The 4th International Workshop on 3D Cadastres addresses the following topics:
  • 3D Cadastre operational experiences (analysis, LADM based, learn from each other, discover gaps)
  • 3D Cadastre cost effective work flow for new/updated 3D parcels = 4D (part of whole chain:
    from planning/design/permit in 3D, to registration/use in 3D)
  • 3D Cadastre web-based dissemination (usability, man-machine interfaces, including mobile/AR)
  • Legal aspects for 3D Cadastre, best legal practises in various legislation systems
  • Focus on large cities, including developing countries
Tentative timetable

30 June 2014   Extended abstract (500-1000 words) submission deadline
7 September 2014   Author notification
9 Ocober 2014   For accepted submissions, final version of full paper
9-11 November 2014   Workshop

The submission for extended abstracts is open. Please use EasyChair for submitting extended
(and later on the accepted full papers) to the 4th 3D Cadastre Workshop:
