Briefing about Points of Interest (POI) Draft Data Model

The POI Standards Working Group has been working on an OGC Standard for Points of Interest. We are excited to share with you that we have reached two milestones:

1. Completion of a draft UML Conceptual Model for POI

Before going any further, the SWG would like to validate that this model is correct and complete. To that end, we need input from a larger body of POI producers and consumers. The SWG requests from everyone in the POI community:

• Test the data model yourself (https://github.com/opengeospatial/poi/tree/main/21-049/UML) 

• Report to us what you learn/feedback to the POI SWG github repository (https://github.com/opengeospatial/poi/issues) 

• Review  the briefing (recording)

The goal of the POI Data Model standard is to define a POI data model which:

1. Meets the information needs of POI producers and consumers

2. Is compatible with existing OGC Feature datasets

3. Is easily adaptable to any Feature-based data model

All development of the OGC POI Specification is being conducted via the POI github repository (https://github.com/opengeospatial/poi). We welcome engagement and contributions from the wider POI community.
