The CityGML Challenge Event
How will it be done?
The judges will evaluate the candidate visualisation tools during the week preceding the judging event, and will watch the presentations on the day. They will individually judge the candidate entries against the criteria, and will then convene to compare scores and agree on an overall winner.
The judging criteria are as follows:
- How well does the tool meet the stated requirements?
- How intuitive and enjoyable is the tool to use?
- How confident are we that it will be available and supported for 12 months?
- To what extent does it offer innovation or originality in concept or application?
The judges will represent the following stakeholder organisations:
- Manchester City Council
- Ordnance Survey
- Open Geospatial Consortium

Friends’ Meeting House is centrally located only a couple of minutes walk away from Manchester Town Hall and Manchester Central, and directly opposite (the back) of newly refurbished Central Library.
Getting there by tram: The nearest stop is St. Peter’s Square, which is a 30 second walk away from our front door.
Getting there by train: The venue is within walking distance of all the city centre rail stations. Approx times on foot:
- Manchester Piccadilly – 20 min
- Manchester Victoria – 15 min
- Manchester Oxford Rd – 10 min
- Salford Central – 15min
- Deansgate – 10 min
Getting there by bus: Several bus routes stop near the Meeting House, including the Metroshuttle, free buses linking the main rail stations, car parks, shopping areas and businesses in Manchester city centre. Find out more at www.tfgm.com.
