Director, Member Success, and Development, Europe, Central Asia & Africa
Athina, serves currently as Director for OGC Services in Europe, Central Asia and Africa. In her position she is the contact person for OGC in these regions, responsible for the OGC’s activities and networking.
This includes raising awareness and increasing application of OGC standards by technology providers and users, as well as connecting with stakeholder organisations and members. Being passionate about networking and bringing people together, Athina also supports OGC’s regional and national forum activities, and planning and managing of OGC outreach and recruitment in these regions.
Athina has presented internationally on geo-information management topics, mainly in the areas of networking within the community, OGC processes, interoperability and standards.
She has a diploma in Geography and started working in the field of GIS in 1998 in the private sector. In 2006, she joined OGC as Director for Business Development. Since 2008 she is charter member of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). In 2009 she was appointed OGC’s Director for European Services, adding Central Asia and Africa in 2015.
