Position Description:

OGC has a mission of making location information FAIR. With this in mind, we are seeking a dedicated, driven events manager to join our marketing team. This new position will work across lines of business with the OGC marketing director to ensure that the organization is managing, scheduling, and executing professional quality thought leadership and engaging conferences and workshops.  

The events manager will be responsible for driving the OGC event schedule, social media accounts, and e-marketing tools leading from organizing and promoting an individual event all the way to providing the relevant attendee information to our management services team so they can provide desired follow ups through our customer relationship management platform.

The Events Manager is a full time remote position based in the United States, preferably in the Washington DC area. They will report to OGC’s Marketing Director. This position is open to those with an intermediate amount of events management experience including by not limited to tradeshows, virtual events, and interactive conferences.  

Specific Duties:

  • Maintaining an event schedule across the entire organization
  • Providing leadership in event management and execution
  • Coordinating both in-person and virtual event activities such as catering, registration, speaker information and ‘handling’, and promotional materials
  • Using digital media such as social, paid digital and print advertising
  • Identifying and delivering sponsorship opportunities per each event
  • Reporting on event attendance, attendee behavior, and post-event survey information

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (4) years of experience in event execution, promotions and management
  • Minimum of (3) years of recent experience indicating proficiency with social media platforms
  • Competent Customer Relationship Management Software such as V-tiger or Salesforce
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or another event-management related field

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite and meeting tools such as Google docs and calendar
  • Use of virtual meeting tools such as GoToWebinar, Remo, Zoom, etc. 
  • Graphic design experience is encouraged for event banners and other essential items 
  • Use of e-marketing tools like ConstantContact, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, etc.
