Position Summary:
As Project Manager in the Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program you are a key member of our global OGC team that achieves the OGC vision of a world in which everyone benefits from the use of geospatial information and supporting technologies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- To support OGC Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program initiatives, including the role as Manager, Architect, or Support Staff.
- You will be responsible for the initiative, including 1) creating project schedules and focus with sponsors and OGC team, 2) making sure goals are achieved under the budgeted cost and schedule, 2) continuously communicating with sponsors to ensure their satisfaction with an initiative, 3) reporting as required by the contracts to sponsors, 4) supporting contract deliverables, including all documentation and making sure the reports are moved through the OGC process, and 5) issuing Statements of Work to participants and consultants.
- As technical lead architect you ensure that the architecture, interfaces, encodings, and other technology is sound and within the scope of the work. Architects are required to be very knowledgeable in the technology to provide proper guidance and actively participate in the discussions.
- To support business development.
- You will Interact with government, commercial, academic, research, and not-for-profit prospects and customers to:
- develop and propose new ideas that can potentially result in an OGC IP Initiative
- follow up, as needed, to help gather requirements
- write proposals and develop budgets.
- Your contributions will help to maintain the business pipeline and achieve our corporate mission.
- You will Interact with government, commercial, academic, research, and not-for-profit prospects and customers to:
- Support the OGC Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program in its continual improvement. All OGC Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program staff work with other OGC staff to:
- improve the process of planning and running initiatives
- improve effectiveness and help draft OGC Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program policies and procedures
- identify challenges and ideas to solve problems and make geospatial systems more interoperable
- help shape and sustain the Innovation Program to maintain it as a world-class, agile, prototyping process to solve increasingly complex challenges and advance open, interoperable technology.
- Support other OGC activities, such as:
- new member recruitment; membership support; training; facilitation of working groups; representation of OGC at conferences and symposia; authoring articles for trade journals authoring blogs; supporting OGC regional and national forums; OGC workshops as needed, and serving as liaison to OGC Alliance Partner and Liaison organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Organized, team oriented, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects concurrently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language, additional language skills are welcome.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is primarily timeline-driven
- Ability to self-organize priorities and work items in a virtual, multi-time-zone environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Github/Gitlab, common online meeting platforms like goto meeting, zoom, teams etc.
- Background in geospatial information and applications
- Background in full lifecycle project management, from idea to delivery and customer acceptance.
- Ability to manage multiple budget, schedule, and technology development projects concurrently.
