Land and Poverty Conference 2016: Scaling up Responsible Land Governance
The 17th Annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty Conference 2016, with the theme, "What Works and New Frontiers”, will bring together stakeholders from around the world to look at progress and next steps in efforts to ensure equitable land rights through land tenure systems.
Appropriate use of modern information technologies and open standards play an important role, and the co-located OGC North American Forum Open Standards Technology Exposition and 2016 Innovations Fair will show how products that implement Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Standards interoperate to provide location-enabled Web Service applications for Land Governance and Poverty Reduction.
The OGC has organized a session on Tuesday that addresses the ways in which water data standards can help alleviate poverty. “Session 03-09: Water Data Standards: Benefits and Lessons for Land, Location: MC 5-100” runs from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EST. Mark Reichardt, OGC President and CEO; David K Arctur, Research/Academic Advocate for OGC; Michael Follum, USACE-ERDC-CHL U.S.A.; and Silvano Pecora, ARPA SIMC - AREA IDROLOGIA, Italy will each discuss different aspects of this.
This 17th edition of the Land and Poverty Conference is being held in the week following the first quarterly Meeting of the OGC, which will also be held at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C.
The Technology Exposition and Innovations Fair will take place all day on Monday, March 14 and half day on Tuesday, March 15.
The core of the conference consists of sessions with accepted papers organized in thematic tracks and posters from Tuesday, March 15 to Thursday, March 17. Policy sessions and roundtables on the core conference themes and cutting-edge issues will run concurrently from March 15–17.
Vendors who can demonstrate how OGC standards facilitate Land Governance and Poverty Reduction solutions are invited to register now to participate in the Technology Exposition. See the Innovations Fair entry in the OGC Events calendar for details.
